Eating grapes and drooling, being attacked by kisses, punching mommy in the throat...all in a day's work. ;)

Christmas at Home
Christmas morning was a very anticipated event around here. The two days before they had run into our room in the morning and yelled out, "It's Christmas Eve eve!" and "It's Christmas Eve!". So you can imagine how excited they were on the actual day.
So maybe I lied about not doing matching pjs anymore. ;)
One of Noah's gifts was The Action Bible, which is the Bible in comic book format. As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect for my action loving boy. He's requested it at bedtime every night since. They both also love this DVD set we got for them. They use these videos at church sometimes so the kids were already familiar with some of the characters. Even Nathan and I are learning when we watch!
This is a book that Anna has checked out from the library over and over and over. She was thrilled to have her own copy.
She also got a tiny school uniform just like hers for her doll Charlotte. She's been asking for this since Kindergarten!
We didn't get Ben as much as the other two because A. he didn't know any better, and B. he has all of Noah's toys and needs absolutely nothing! But of course we still got him some things he liked. Here he is reading a car book to Ruby. What? Don't all dogs wear red puffer coats with fur trim at Christmas time?
Like last year, there were plenty of Legos.
This is the set he's been asking for for over a year now.
And this is what he has done nonstop since then.

Meerkats like Legos too.
Both kids wanted to buy gifts for Nathan. Anna got him a little wooden tabletop basketball game and told him he could take it to work, and Noah got him a harmonica. Not for work.
This was Anna's big gift and she talked about it constantly for months. About the lights that really light up, and the real doorbell and the hot tub on the roof. I admit while we were putting it together I did have fun playing with all of the buttons. The TV pops up out of a fireplace that lights up and crackles! Barbie sings in the shower! There's a light in the fridge!
Out shopping one day I threw this tiny Thomas pillow pet in the cart for Ben. He likes trains, and I really had no clue what to get him this year, but I almost put it back because who needs more stuffed toys? But I'm glad I kept it because as soon as we gave it to him he was in LOVE. He snuggles it and laughs and loves it so much. I didn't expect that, but I'm glad he likes it!
That night we went to Nathan's parents' house, then this past weekend we did my side of the family on Saturday and Sunday. It's been a lot of Christmas, but stretching it out like that actually made for one of our most relaxed seasons ever. For the first time in 3 or 4 years we didn't host it at our house, so I didn't put out near as many decorations as I sometimes do. I wasn't feeling bah humbug or anything, it just wasn't something I was overly concerned with this year. And it was pretty nice to keep things simple. The kids had a great day and we were able to just enjoy ourselves. Hopefully I can keep this trend going in the future!
