Good Girl

Anna must have sensed that mommy was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The nap boycott seems to be coming to a close, although I hesitate to say those words out loud for fear that it will return. For the last week she has been napping every day. Now true, some days it still takes her over an hour to give in and sleep. But it's a great improvement and we'll take it!

Today we went out to Ashley and Kendall's house. After a fun time in a toy store (where Anna was completely enamored with the bell hanging on the front door) we had lunch and then went to a playground nearby. We just had to get out in the sunshine, and we think the girls enjoyed it too. Anna was so sleepy on the way home, but she's been in her crib for about 30 minutes now saying, "Ohhhh wow!" and "Beep beep!". But I have hope that she really has decided to turn from her old defiant ways and give her mommy little bits of peace and quiet each day.
Okay now she's singing Jesus Loves Me and jumping up and down...... Monkeys need naps too right?

Sweet Stuff

Nothing huge happening around here lately (if you don't count my belly!) but Anna is just being so funny lately. Right now everything is "funny". Funny da da, funny man, funny Rae, and when she saw some penguins on TV they were funny ducks. She's singing all the time which is so cute! Usually when she should be asleep I can hear her singing, "Bye bye Thomas! Bye bye Ruby!" and bye bye to just about anyone and anything she knows.

She's still pretty much on a napping boycott and lately we're lucky if we get even one or two naps a week. We're waiting for this phase to pass, but until then we've got one cranky, and sometimes wild, girl on our hands. Her current favorite way to burn off some energy is to put things on her head and run through the house.

Mommy's tank top (head through the arm hole)

Her own jacket

A pair of her pants....much better on the head than on the legs

And if that gets old you can always make snow angels out of the Sunday paper

To say she's been a handful lately would be a huge understatement, but we're trying to remember how quickly this age will be nothing more than a memory. We're happy that she is so full of energy and life, we just need a little more ourselves if we stand any chance of keeping up with her!

Fat Boy

Today Noodle and I had another checkup, and he's doing great! I had an ultrasound and everything is as it should be. He's actually measuring 6 days farther along than I am and he now weighs 2 pounds and 8 ounces. The last time we saw him on ultrasound he was only 12 ounces so he is a growing boy (yes, he's still a boy)! He's already in the head down position and his only job from now on is to get fatter. Anna never measured farther ahead so we wonder if this little guy will be a chubby one, although I still see chicken legs in our future ;) The only ultrasound pictures they had were the non-cute things like kidneys and bladder, but maybe he'll look something like this over the summer:

Hee hee hee!

Aga-Doodle

Today is rainy and yucky so we are staying inside most of the time. Anna has been running around the house, pushing her baby stroller, chasing Ruby, the usual. I felt kind of bad for her, even though she seemed to be having fun, so I decided to get out some of her Christmas presents that we had saved for this very occasion...a rainy day.

I decided to open the Aquadoodle that her Aunt Sarah and Uncle Chris bought for her. She was very excited when she saw the box and as I was filling the pen with water she sort of danced around my feet with excitement saying "please? please? please?". We assembled all of the pieces and she went to town. So much fun! And so little worry for me since it's only water! She had a great time drawing, and pointing out all of the shapes around the edges. She kept whispering "Aga-doodle" over and over to herself while she played. When we ran to the post office she wanted to take the pen with her in the car.

Thanks Chris and Sarah, you saved our rainy day!

Cuteness

Anna is still running around apologizing to people, toys, etc. The other day she was running through the house barefoot - because she is crazy and must immediately remove socks upon waking - and she stubbed her little toe on the transition between the hardwood and the kitchen floor. She took a few more steps and then looked down and said, "Oh, sorry toes!". Could she be any sweeter?!

And because I don't have any pictures of that, here are some other cute things to look at: http://www.weewonderfuls.com/make-a-long/ . This is from the blog of a very crafty lady. She made these little toys and then made a story to go with them. Just click on the right side of each page to see more, and you may have to scroll down to read the words at the bottom. It completely cracks me up that she takes these dolls out in public, sets up little scenes, and takes pictures of them. She's also pregnant and has a toddler so I'm not sure where she finds the time to make all of these creative little things (backpacks for dolls anyone?). Hmm, maybe she has a toddler that actually naps.....remind me to get one of those!

Best Friends

Today, after another fun time at the Noah's Ark playroom, Kendall came over to play while her mommy went to the doctor. The girls had lots of fun running around, trading shoes, and imitating each other.

First they took their babies shopping (where have they seen that before?)

Then they played with the crazy ball popper:

Next was the dollhouse:

And a brief introduction to Teletubbies (sorry Ashley!). No I did not let them stay this close to the screen!

After all of that, they thought they would play ball. Quick! Put the ball on your head! Now run away! Run away!It was so cute watching them play together. The best thing is the way they imitate one another. Anna would roll on the floor so Kendall would walk backwards until she fell over and roll around too. Then Kendall would start dancing so Anna would join in and boogie with her until her pants fell off...literally!

A Sudden Realization

Last night I was pulling clothes out of the dryer like I do a million times a week, when all of a sudden, there they were. Blue clothes! In my normally very pink baby load! How did those get in there?!
A few weeks ago Ashley and I drove up to the Gap outlet to look for maternity clothes. We found a few things for ourselves, but of course we had to look at the baby clothes too. The selection for Anna and Kendall was sad, but I found plenty of little things for Noodle. I mean, how can you pass up pants for 25 cents? So since these items were non-refundable I went ahead and washed them all. It really hit me when I saw little blue shirts and tiny rugby socks in my laundry basket.....Noodle really is a boy! And he's coming home very soon! :)

Big Girl

Today Anna let me put her hair in a ponytail. Well, alright, I kind of had to sandwich her between my knees while yelling, "Look out at the snow!!!" over an over but it worked. Those baby ponytail holders are minuscule and hard to get in while she's wiggling. But when it was finished I almost cried at how big she looked walking away (emotional preggy mama:).

Here's the front view:
Side view while brushing teeth:
Taking all the spoons out of the dishwasher:
We went to Hallmark to buy Noodle's baby book and before we were even out of the car I saw that the ponytail was no more. But she didn't pull it out like the last time I tried. It just couldn't stand up to the head rubbing on the car seat. Oh well, it was cute while it lasted, and it gives me hope that she won't have to be scraggly her entire life.
