Busy

Wow. Will life ever return to normal? Will I ever sleep again? Or wear a shirt that doesn't have spit-up on the shoulder? I'm not sure if either of those things will happen anytime soon, but I do know that these two little monkeys are completely worth it.

So the blog updates might be few and far between but we are taking plenty of pictures for that one day when we'll have enough time to go back and share the stories behind them all. For now, here are a few funny ones from this week:

Anna was playing in the family room when I noticed the sun was lighting up her giant hair. Nathan snapped a picture and later he pointed out that her hair is actually wider than her body in this picture. Ha!

Here she is attacking the camera while yelling, "I take picture you?" over and over:

Today Noah wore a little football shirt and every time I look at him it cracks me up. I don't know why. Maybe because those little arm bands make it look like he should have biceps or something. Here's the front of the shirt:

But then I took this picture of him on my lap and when it downloaded it had transformed into another child altogether. This looks nothing like the baby I see in real life! Who is this little elfin boy?

Big Kids

Yesterday was Noah's 1 month check-up and Anna's 2 year visit. Nathan was kind enough to come home early and help me, since I knew I would have my hands full and then some. I was right! Noah had a diaper blowout just before we walked into the doctor's office, and Anna screamed and tried to get away through her entire checkup. She didn't even get shots, she was just terrified of things like stethoscopes and tongue depressors!

Both kids look great. Anna is still our little peanut at just over 25 pounds. But she's taller than average measuring right at 3 feet tall. Noah surprised us by gaining over 3 pounds in just 4 weeks and growing 2 and a half inches longer. I knew he was gaining weight but I didn't think he had gained that much! It's nice to not have to worry so much about his weight like I did with Anna.

Oh and even though it's old news now, the hospital finally fixed Noah's little web page : http://www.growingfamily.com/webnursery/babypage_view.asp?URLID=8256384236

Due

Today is my original due date to have Noah...and today he is 4 weeks old! Some days I miss being pregnant and feeling him hiccup and move around, but most days I am really happy that he's here with us and I don't have heartburn anymore! I already can't believe how fast he is growing. He's still a tiny thing but we're starting to notice how his face is filling out and his little legs don't have as many wrinkles as they did just 2 weeks ago. He's eating a ton and even though I'm exhausted, it's nice to not have to worry about his weight gain. Tomorrow is his one month check-up and I'm eager to see how big he is, and how it compares with Anna at this age.

I don't have any pictures from today (of course I do - they're just not downloaded yet) but here is one from last weekend at the park. He's growing, but he looks little here and I like that :)

And just because it's funny, here he is in his bed, all swaddled up and wearing a goofy hat:

I'm so happy I could.....

Noah tried out his swing for the first time today. If spouting fountains of projectile spit-up are a sign of excitement, then I'd say he loved it!

More Hats

Noah wearing a hat made by one of Nathan's coworkers:

Noah wearing a hat I made:

Anna joining in by getting her own hat to wear (aka: a pair of shorts):

The difference is that Anna kept her hat on for the rest of the day:

P.S. Noah prefers fitted shirts because they better show off his muscles :)

Bath time boy

Because Noah's cord hasn't fallen off yet, he has to get sponge baths. I always hate doing them because they (my babies:) just seem so cold and small and unhappy. Noah's first sponge bath came late in the evening after Anna was already in bed. I worried that he might scream and wake her up so we closed the doors and prepared to work quickly. We kept him dressed as long as possible and started with his hair. I was warning Nathan, "Okay. Get ready. Here goes." when....nothing! Noah slept through almost his entire bath! I'm telling myself that this means he'll be calm and cool throughout life, with an emphasis on his toddler years, ya know, for mommy's sake :)

Bike Hat

One of Anna's second birthday gifts was her very first bike, well, tricycle actually. She continues to be obsessed with all forms of transportation (cars, trains, planes, etc) and bikes are a favorite right now. We let hers sit in the box for a few weeks since it was too cold to ride it anyway, but ever since her first ride she's been asking nonstop for "Bike! bike! bike!".

This past weekend we also bought her a helmet, or as she calls it, a bike hat. Several people (including family members!) have made fun of me for wanting Anna to wear a helmet on such a little tricycle. But I just couldn't shake the image of the bike falling over sideways and what parts of her would hit the ground first, so the helmet is staying! I did agree to hold off on the elbow and knee pads...for now. Of course I don't even think they make bike helmets as small as what she needs so hers is a little too big right now. Considering the fact that she just lets us push her and she doesn't even pedal, I think the too big helmet will be okay for a few months. It should fit perfectly just in time for her to go zooming past us.

When we take her out on the bike, we just have to laugh. She sits with her feet on the pedals while Nathan pushes her. Her helmet falls into her eyes and you just see this very serious, very large headed, toddler coming towards you.
